Beach and sea
The Abendsonne apartment is located in Wenningstedt and therefore not only in the heart of the island, but also just a few minutes from the beach. Until the beginning of the 19th century, today's Wenningstedt consisted of only eight courtyards, the so-called Stavenplatz. In the middle of the 19th century, tourism discovered the small town and growth began. Wenningstedt is impressive today with its four kilometer long beach, which is divided into different areas. There are eight textile bathing areas, two dog beaches, two nudist areas, and one section of the beach is specially designated as a surfing and kite area.
Das Rote Kliff
The red cliff
The Rote Kliff is a 30 meter high cliff between Wenningstedt and Kampen - and one of the most popular photo opportunities on the island. The cliff is on the sea side. It begins in the south at the "Risgap" car park and ends in the north at the level of Haus Kliffende on the Kampener Westheide. A little further north is the highest point on the island, the 52.5 m high Uwe dune.
